We have now passed the Brexit, according to the xenophobic Brexiteers UK is once again an independent state, this claim is just as wrong it can be, for the moment UK is less independent than it has been the last 47 years when it was part of Winston Churchill’s dream of Europe.
How come UK is less independent today than just a few days ago?
The answer is quite simple, UK will be treated as a member of EU in most cases during the transactional period, which is at least to December 31st of 2020, and those UK has to follow all EU regulations, but as they do not have any representatives in the EU Parliament, UK has no way to influence EU when it makes new regulations.
Another thing that has changed is that Wales will get less money as it’s been EU who has been financing all the recent major projects, the money that was “promised” to Wales from the EU fees (which was a lot less than reported by the racists who wanted to Brexit, as they didn’t reduce what UK got back from EU) ain’t enough to keep NHS on it’s feet, specially when the new trade deal with USA has been finalized which will increase the cost of medicine and medical equipment from USA.
There will be internal issues in UK, with the risk of a “Scottxit” where the Scottish rejoin the EU by divorcing from the rest of the UK and form their own nation. There are forces within EU that will make it simple for Scotland to join the EU if they are an independent state.
The question is if they should be given a second independence referendum or not, as things has radically changed since 2014, UK ain’t part of EU, which was what the Scottish were promised if they stayed as part of UK, now as UK ain’t holding their part of the agreement, it’s natural to allow the Scottish to get another go to decide over their future, economically they would manage as the north sea oil would be in an independent Scotland and could then profit from that by taxes.
UK can in worst case break down into just England, if the Northern Ireland decides to become a part of the Republic of Ireland and in that way join the EU once again, but that would require a large portion of the royalists to feel they have more to win on being part of EU than UK.
Same could happen in Gibraltar too, as many there work on the other side of the border, spending hours in border control could lead to that people would rather see the border removed and become a part of Spain.
No matter what, the Tories will have a big problem in the polarized society they have been creating the last decade and they may end up with making UK to just England and become a side note in history books, the future will reveal what will happen, at this point Brexiteers can be happy with their new won slavery to EU, but maybe 2021 will give the a bit more freedom.
