With the increased communist-sinosation in Hong Kong there may be Hongkongers who think of serving in the PRC PLA, but how will this affect on Hong Kong?
Sure from the fake communists in mainland China it will taken as a proof of patriotism and that the authoritarian anti-humanistic politics is the right way to go, but the coin has another side too, less countries will see SAR Hong Kong as a separate part of PRC and leads to that Hong Kong will be a target in an upcoming war.
The war we are talking about is the war against Republic of China, the fake communists has increased the war propaganda the last year, they have also frequently had military units to cross the two countries national borders. As PRC will be the aggressor in the upcoming war, RoC will get backup of more than just USA.
If there is a large amount of Hongkongers in the PLA ranks, then allied forces of RoC may target Hong Kong as a legitimize target, while if there ain’t Hongkongers among the PLA ranks, then Hong Kong may be spared from military attacks. So before you enlist in PLA, think about if your selfishness is more worth than the lives of the others in Hong Kong, if you still think your adventure is more worth than your parents lives, please move to mainland and wait a year before you enlist, this way you will not be listed as a Hongkonger and maybe it will keep Hong Kong out of the war.
There is a big risk that Hongkongers will be forced to join PLA, the risk increases if the war goes badly for PLA, for the only way they can have a chance of winning is to overwhelm the defenses in Taiwan in a shorter time than it took the Germans and Soviets to conquer Poland in 1939. The longer it takes for PLA to get a foothold, the more allied will come to RoC’s defense. When the allied joins in, PLA will need more cannon fodder and what better than take democracy supporting Hongkongers, give them a fast basic training and throw them in the killing zone.
Sure you can always try to surrender, but in a chaotic situation it’s not easy to become a prisoner, also deserting will lead to a death sentence, the only way to have a chance to come out alive will be to mutiny, but it has to be well planed and you can’t do it on mainland, earliest possible time is when shipped over towards Taiwan, take over the ship and get out of the battle area before requesting help from RoC and it’s allied.
What will happen after the war, most likely we will see the fake communists to admit that there ain’t one China but two. We won’t see RoC and it’s allied to get rid of the fake communists in PRC unless the wast majority of population and armed forces rebellion against the CCP. For Hong Kong it will mean it will still be ruled by a ruthless authoritarian dictator and those who surrendered, switched side, or deserted will hear bad news about their family members who will be executed or in best case sent to some labor camp for reeducation. For the majority of Hongkongers it should mean life can go back to life in enslavement.
